Palin will sign books at Billy Graham Library

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will be at Charlotte's Billy Graham Library on Dec. 6 to sign copies of her new book about Christmas.

She'll autograph books from 10 a.m. to noon. The library is at 4330 Westmont Drive.

Palin's book, "Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas," is a call to defend and openly celebrate Jesus' birth in public displays and in school pageants.

The 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate and frequent guest on the Fox News network also calls in her book for people to say "Merry Christmas" at a time when many, noting the growing religious diversity of the country, prefer "Happy Holidays."

Those who want to reserve a signed book must come to the library's book store, Ruth's Attic, and purchase up to four books there. They will be given receipts and wristbands, which they will need to bring to the book signing to gain access and get a book. No books purchased elsewhere will be signed.

Details: 704-401-3200. Click here for the library's Web site.

Palin was among the celebrities who attended Billy Graham's 95th birthday party on Nov. 7 at the Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville. She also spoke, recounting how her mother was influenced by televised Graham Crusades to bring the family to evangelical Christianity.

IN OTHER NEWS: The Billy Graham Library will, for the sixth consecutive year, host a nearly month-long "Christmas at the Library" celebration.

Starting Dec. 2 and continuing through Dec. 23, from 5 p.m. on each day, the library will treat visitors to a live Nativity, horse-drawn carriage rides, live music from carolers, Christmas story time for children, a lights display and a large Christmas tree with ornaments.

The library's operating hours in December will be extended, from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. It will remain closed on Sundays.

Admission to the library is free. But there will be a $10 parking fee per vehicle after 3 p.m.. And there will costs for the carriage rides and for a Christmas dinner that will be available at the adjacent Billy Graham Evangelistic Association headquarters, Thursday through Saturday.

ONE FINAL NEWSY NOTE: The library will be closed Jan. 6-11 for maintenance and updates. It will reopen Jan. 13.

If I went to the Billy Graham Library and bought Sara Palin's book, she'd turn me away because I'd be wearing a President Obama t-shirt.

Anyone that thinks Palin is 'intelligent' is delusional. Save your money and talk to the neighborhood 7th grader. The level of insight would be equivalent.

To be clear, this has nothing to do with her positions. There are smart people worth listening to that share her positions. She is mindless, regardless of her positions.

Sarah Palin leaves me cold. She's a cold angry fish and about as dumb as a box of rocks. There is NO war on Christmas, she's confusing that with the separation of church and state which protects us ALL to have the freedom to practice our beliefs equally, but I guess that's just not good enough for her- especially if she can make money off of a particular angle.

Well, at least we know that the Bill Graham organization is friendly and tolerant to non-Christians, like Sarah Palin.

I hate to bring this to your attention, but the person who posted this comment: "Anyone that thinks Palin is 'intelligent' is delusional. Save your money and talk to the neighborhood 7th grader. Man oh man, the haters showed up.....over a book signing. Guess they have nothing better to do than hate. Prayers for them.

Mark :)

Someone should give her the book "From Billy Graham to Sarah Palin: Evangelicals and the Betrayal of American Conservatism". Her appearance at this location is an excellent example of the main premise in the book.

Gotta love the libs. Trained to hate people they've been commanded to hate, but they have no idea why.

I have bets she can't spell her name correctly. Any takers??

She's the political equivalent of Kim Kardashian.

Just look at the anger and hate comments directed to a Conservative female and a book about Christ- This is Democratic, Liberal vomit that is ruining our country. If I had said anything like that to a lady, of any description, I would've had my face slapped.. I would hate someone say that about you mama! "Cold, Dumb, mind of a 7th grader" Shame on you- tsBasky

So it's OK for someone to call Democrats "hate filled" but it is wrong for me to say I "pity those" who feel that way?

Gotcha. Hey, why not call the blog "Republican Views Only"?

And the progressive basement dwellers unleash onto the blogosphere.....

Why would someone insult 7th graders by comparing Palin to them!!! That just makes me angry. It is just downright unacceptable and ignorant to severely underestimate a 7th grader's intelligence and capacity for logic.

There are so many competent Republican women in this country who are well spoken and accomplished, but this twit is none of those. She has done nothing but spew hatred and lies while living in her own world of hypocrisy as she continues to judge others as if she were appointed by God Himself. The GOP can thank Ms. Palin for their continued division and demise.

I love how she bashes the Pope one week as being to liberal and then the next week goes out to fully exploit the holiday and suckers like Larry.

Mark, evangelicals have never embraced government to coorect societla ills. Government, no matter the party, IS the cause of society's ills. Evangelicals embrace JESUS as the only cure for societal ills.

I am Mark also.

At least Palin will be a distraction from all the commercial greed and selfishness known as Black friday.

To see the Graham organization embrace the likes of Plain and her 'hangers on' sickens me-- Franklin has cheapened the organization and continues to ruin what his father built--

It's terribly unfair that everyone seems to be harping on Ms. Palin's lack of intelligence. After all, she's also a quitter; give the gal some credit! She makes a lot more money slamming President Obama on Fox News than she did as Alaska's governor.

And she's not really that dumb either. Takes a pretty smart lady to figure out so many ways to part conservative rubes from their money, this book signing for example.

Heck, she's even taught her daughter how to do it. Only the evangelical set would pay to hear an unwed teenage mother give speeches about what a great idea abstinence is.

Ah, Sarah Palin - the gift that just keeps on giving.

To "Larry":

Kind lof like how you can't figure out how many commas or where they should be in your comment?

For Mark who said, "evangelicals have never embraced government to coorect societla ills. Government, no matter the party, IS the cause of society's ills. Evangelicals embrace JESUS as the only cure for societal ills."

Absolutely not true. Evengelicals LOVE to use government to mess with people, like gays, people's reproductive choices, etc.
Secondly, JESUS solves problems only by setting en example that others, including governments, ought to follow! Jesus never took the view that government is bad.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous November 25, 2013 at 6:26 PM,

it is your comment that is NOT true; Jesus came to love all sinners but not the sin. Also, Evangelicals are NOT messing with gays or reproductive 'choices'. Mankind has already done that which is why gays exist in their sinful imagination and the USA has aborted over 50 million of its' future generations. So who has messed with who? God never messed with his creation, it is us human that has messed with God's creation.

Oh I am sorry I have no idea about grammer.

But then again I did not denigrate someone over their intelligence like the writer of that comment did.

Sense of decorum you say?

Do you charge for your judging of others, or do you do it just for fun.

Either way you are very poor at it.

Tea Party is the ingrown toenail of America, I say this because Christianity is a liberal and mystical way, not stern and angry as it has been perverted by folks like Sarah Palin. I don't care what she "thinks", I am free, I want everybody to be free; but people like her want to force their way onto the rest of us in society.

Larry said...

Yes Religion is so much easier for folks to work with with out all those absolutes.

Anonymous said...

Anon 12:23, agreed. This would be a great time to have her and her Tealaban minions arrested for high crimes.

Anonymous said...

Larry, your sky god fairy tale has stood in the way of man kinds progress for too long. Thankfully, the day is near when the enlightened collective can finally abolish such fantasies once and for all.

Anonymous said...

The irony of the last three anonymous posters calling the Tea Party "Tealaban" and saying they want to force their will on all of us. Meanwhile, the current administration has forced it will on all of us through paying for healthcare for others and causing many of us to lose coverage, spying on all of us and our allies, targeting us with the IRS and other regulatory agencies, militarizing the Homeland "Security" and police, funding Al Qaeda fighters oversea, undermining Israel, etc etc etc.....

Well, Sarah Palin was once talking about different points of view and said, "Oh we've got to plow right through that". She doesn't respect others' opinions. People like me are invisible to her.

If you voted for Bush, twice, you don't get to complain about Obama. Anything the Obama Administration has done that you don't like is child's play next to the damage Bush & Cheney have done to our country, and in Iraq.

The complaints voiced immediately above are largely baseless, a lot of that is just good governance and the rest is what any good President would do to protect America. There are also lies. If Bush did all of that stuff, you'd just LOOOVE it.

Granted, I personally don't think it was fair of the atheist above to want to "abolish all such fantasies" - because that is a threat. I want to remind him that not all who believe in and follow Christ are like Sarah Palin, who is a fraud and a liar. ("by their fruits ye shall know them") Most of the Christians I grew up around were open, liberal-minded Christians and not part of this conservative perversion that is now popular in America. Palin's brand of religion is toxic and militant. I try respect the beliefs of all people, BUT keep it it yourself and keep it out of politics. Get off your high horse, conservatives. Religion is PERSONAL, and you're "only passing through", right? Do as you will in church and home, but don't try making laws telling the rest of us how to live, we don't share your hangups.

If a woman wants an abortion, I don't like it - but it's NONE of my business and ESPECIALLY not the Government's business. if Ted Nugent want's to hunt, it's none of my business. But if he wants to encourage violence against my President, that's a different story. If Sarah Palin wants to be selling our country down the river to make a few bucks, I don't like it, I think it's treason. I think any adult should know better than to listen to her. But, hey, what can be done?

Larry said...

Wow, I am glad to know that when I lay down and close my eyes, I am not filled with all this hate and self loathing we see from folks on here.

You can not raise yourself up any higher, by tearing down others.

And I am sure you find it so onerous that you have to deal with folks like me who think we have a purpose on this chunk flying million of miles around in the coldness of space.

But if you can look up at the stars, and not see the majesty of life and how wonderful we are being just a small part of it, then you must not understand the infinitesimal chances you had even being born.

I for one will treat folks with kindness and love if they deserve it and apparently those of you who do not deserve love, have not been doing much to deserve it in the first place.

So all the best, and when you close your eyes, remember me, I will not have lay awake or take things to blur my senses. I will dream of better things for all.

And I hope one day you do too.
